EU Policy Position paper

FEANTSA response to European Commission's support package for energy efficiency financing

The European Commission has unveiled a support package for energy efficiency financing, including a report on Energy Efficiency Financing in Europe and recommendations aiming to develop innovative financing schemes.

As a reaction to these publications, FEANTSA presents two documents:

The Elephant in the Room – Who Benefits from Public Funding?

FEANTSA's Reaction to the European Commission Report on Energy Efficiency Financing in Europe highlights that the focus on distribution of funding in the Commission’s report is marginal. However, that current funding often fails to reach those most in need. Therefore, the reaction calls for better targeting and equitable distribution of resources.

FEANTSA Recommendations on unlocking socially fair energy efficiency financing

This document outlines recommendations to ensure that energy efficiency financing is socially fair, emphasising the need to prioritise vulnerable and low-income households and remove barriers such as upfront costs and limited access to credit.

Together, these documents highlight how EU and national policies can deliver an inclusive, effective, and just energy transition—ensuring that no one is left behind.
