In December, the UK government published their new National Plan to End Homelessness, backed by £3.5bn of funding over three years. It arrived in the context of estimates by Crisis UK that over 300,000 people are experiencing homelessness nationwide, representing one of the highest per capita rates in Europe. While many neighbouring countries are experiencing the scaling back of homelessness programmes and cuts to necessary social budgets, UK policymakers are conversely announcing renewed ambitions through progressive goals – such as ending rough sleeping. At the same time, it is unclear whether ambitious goals will translate into tangible results. This webinar provides an overview of the new UK homelessness strategy for an international audience, and considers both the opportunities and the risks, from the perspectives of civil society and policymakers.

Speakers

  • Francesca Albanese, Executive Director of Policy and Social Change at Crisis UK
  • Molly Bishop, Lead Manager - Homelessness & Rough Sleeping at the Greater London Authority

The webinar will take place at 11 am Brussels time (10 am UK time).
