HIV and Homelessness in Europe: No Home, No Care?

Date

07 October 2026

Time

14:30 - 16:00

Location

Online

HIV prevention and treatment is difficult to achieve when experiencing homelessness, while those who receive an HIV diagnosis are at high risk of homelessness or housing instability. HIV, as well as other infectious diseases (hepatitis B and C viruses) may also be drug-related or may affect certain communities at a higher risk. Often, the same communities are denied access to services or excluded from society, such as those experiencing homelessness, which can bring further negative impacts on the health of people. These co-occurrences of health issues and inequalities as well as experiences of discrimination make it the more relevant to address HIV in connection to homelessness.

To explore the multiple challenges in accessing HIV prevention and treatment while experiencing homelessness, and to identify possible solutions, FEANTSA and HIV Prevention Alliance are proposing a reflection webinar on the intersection between HIV and homelessness. We’ll bring together experts from different perspectives to discuss these challenges, look at what is changing in HIV treatment, and explore what needs to change in policy and practice.
