Beginning as a pilot project in 2021, the success led to the national roll-out of Housing First as a programme under the federal government. WOHNSCHIRM Housing First, launched in 2024, aims to house 2,500 people by the end of 2026. Chief among the successes of the Austrian model has been cross-sector partnership building between public institutions and NGOs - leading to collaboration and broad support.
Now we ask - can the Austrian model be usefully replicated elsewhere in Europe?
Our two expert speakers - Emine Oezkan and Andrea Zierler from the Federal Ministry of Social Affairs' WOHNSCHIRM Housing First programme - present the programme and answer questions from the participants.
