Thessaloniki Endorses Homeless Bill of Rights

The Greek city of Thessaloniki endorsed the Homeless Bill of Rights on November 6th 2020.

The adoption of the Homeless Bill of Rights by local authorities in Europe is an initiative of FEANTSA which aims at promoting human rights of the homeless, including the right to housing.

The official Municipal Council Decision of the approval can be found here (in Greek). The Municipality of Thessaloniki is creating a shield of protection for the homeless in the midst of the pandemic crisis, establishing a new service offering temporary accommodation. This service can accommodate up to fourteen people and it is part of the effort to decongest existing structures, to comply with all planned measures and distances, but also to meet all necessary restrictive measures.
