On March 31st two heating points for homeless people in St. Petersburg will be closed. They were opened by the efforts of Russian FEANTSA member Nochlezhka with the support of local authorities on November 1st. Heating points are large tents that can accommodate 50 people overnight. In addition to overnight shelter, homeless people were offered meals in the morning and evening, social consultations were provided and information about other types of help were provided. Nochlezhka plans to open a year-round heating point for homeless people, because even in summer the temperature in Saint Petersburg at night can be below zero. In December 2016 Nochlezhka opened the first free laundry for homeless in Saint Petersburg and in Russia. It became possible thanks to the financial, technical and organisational support of private-sector organisations. More about all of Nochlezhka’s projects can be found here
