FEANTSA and Housing Rights Watch submit contributions to the European Commission's consultation on Action Plan for European Pillar of Social Rights

FEANTSA has contributed to the European Commission’s consultation on its Action Plan to implement the European Pillar of Social Rights. In the submission, FEANTSA expresses its strong support for a European Collaboration Platform on Homelessness as a key element of the action plan. Such an initiative would be a new policy action at EU level to deliver progress on priority 19 of the European Pillar of Social Rights.

FEANTSA believes that a successful new European policy initiative on homelessness should involve two core elements: a voluntary high-level political commitment; and a Commission-led programme of activities to support progress in the fight against homelessness across the EU. The latter would serve to underpin and support the impact of the former.

In parallel, Housing Rights Watch stressed in its submission the need for a human rights-based approach across the Action Plan and particularly in the implementation of priority 19 of the European Pilar.

FEANTSA is ready to seize the opportunity of the Action Plan on the European Pillar of Social Rights and work with the European Commission, Member States and stakeholders to progressively reduce homelessness in Europe.
