As an increasing proportion of homeless people in the UK are in work, 41% according to shelter, teachers are finding themselves at risk of homelessness. The Guardian has interviewed three teachers on their experiences of homelessness while they continue to teach, and highlights the work of the Education Support Partnership, a charity that helps education professionals in need. It is clear that this charity provision is an inadequate solution to the problem, and that swift action needs to be taken to reduce housing costs in the UK.
