Rents are rising in Germany's capital - and so is the number of homeless people. Their profile is changing as well. Social service providers report that more families and people with a job are seeking assistance, which indicates more people belonging to Berlin's middle class are struggling with homelessness. An estimated 50,000 people have been offered shelter of housed by the Berlin authorities in 2017.
