Wales: Improving the Health of Homeless and Vulnerable People  [7/30/2010]

Wales’s Public Health department and Shelter Cymru, the representative body for providers of housing-related support, homelessness and supported living in Wales, have drawn up a document supporting the implementation of the Welsh Assembly Government’s Improving the health and well-being of homeless and specific vulnerable groups - Standards 2009-2014.  The document seeks to counter the situation in which homeless people have poorer physical and mental health than the general population and often have problems obtaining suitable healthcare.  In this agreement, Public Health Wales will lead on the development of evidence-based planning, in cooperation with homelessness services, healthcare providers and government Health Boards.
